For many beginners, it is already a sense of achievement if they hit the ball at all. By the time you have your first taster course behind you, you will have noticed that the golf swing is more complicated than it looks. What's the best way to go about golf swing? The following tips will make it easier for you to learn the golf swing.
Choose the right club
Don't make it harder than necessary for yourself. This is probably the most important of golf swing tips. Start with the sand wedge, which is the easiest way to get the ball up in the air. You can use the iron too, but if you were to start jogging, you would not start straight away with a 10-kilometer run. With an iron, it is much harder to hit the ball and get it into the air.
Golfing from the ground is more difficult than teeing off. Hit off the tee: This gives you and your club more leeway to hit the ball so that it rises into the air.
Success is particularly important as a beginner. Even better if you can reproduce them too. This is why it is important to practice the right swing. For example, you should usually aim at hitting the ball in front of you rather than down at your feet. Aiming your shot below your feet makes it harder for the ball to get into the air. You will need to make adjustments if something goes wrong, but make sure you know what action was successful before trying out something new.
A sound way to go about this is to play with someone who has some experience and can give you valuable tips along the way. Golf lessons are also advisable if necessary.
Get used to playing golf
Golf lessons are often recommended for a beginner but they only have their place when one really understands how important sound technique is for success on the course.
The best golf swing is one that you produce yourself. Get to know the basics of the game, try out some swings and see how far you can hit the ball with practice! A good way to do this is on a driving range where you have plenty of space to move around.
Once you've learned more about the game, head down to your local course. As a beginner, it's better for you to go onto the practiced putting green first before playing nine holes on the course itself. However, even if your aim was just to play nine holes straight away, remember that the second attempt would be much better than your first. After all, you will only learn more about both yourself and the game as time goes by!
In addition to this, it is important that you do not become too frustrated. Hitting a good shot is every golfer's dream but as a beginner, you can't expect to play perfectly on your first few attempts.
You don't need to have the perfect swing on the course
It is more important for a beginner to hit enough of their shots so they can enjoy playing golf and feel encouraged about continuing. The key concept here is enjoyment! If you are not enjoying yourself, then take some time off or consider whether or not golf is really the right sport for you in the first place.
Remember that this sport takes patience and effort in order to improve. Once you've taken these steps everything else should follow! Now get out there and try out these golfing tips for yourself.
Use the right grip
Let’s move to the next number on our list of golf swing tips. In order for the ball to fly halfway straight, the clubhead must come halfway straight to the ball.
For beginners, a common cause of the error is that they grip the club with their left hand while it is standing directly in front of their body. This makes it more difficult to grip the club correctly.
If you grab the club to the left of your body, as a right-handed person, this will almost automatically lead to a correct grip. Make sure the grooves on the clubface are parallel to the ground, then grab the club with your left hand, to the left of your body.
You can check whether you have gripped the club correctly with your left hand as follows: If you can lift the club 90 degrees with almost no effort, it will fit. If you can lift the club without exerting force, your racket will lie comfortably in your left hand.
Another checkpoint: if you can only hold the club with your index finger and the ball of your hand, it is probably right in your hand.
When you have gripped the racket correctly, you go into the address position. Your knees should be slightly bent, your upper body bent forward, and your back as straight as possible.
Your feet should be shoulder-width apart, with your left foot slightly in front of the right one. The grip must come from your wrists and not from your arms or shoulders.
Now take a little practice swing. The club should go into the ball at an angle that is about 30 degrees to the ground, at a height where it does not hit your belly button. If you aim too high up when hitting out of a bunker, for example, this can lead to injuries. Now you're ready to take on the tee shot!
Don’t forget to breathe while swinging
Before making contact with the ball, make sure that you aren't squeezing out any unwanted tension - especially if things are getting stressful towards the end of your backswing.
If you're finding this difficult, then try focusing on your breathing throughout the swing. Try to take deep breaths, exhaling as you strike the ball - rather than holding your breath at any point.
Of course, it's also essential that you're taking your time during each shot - especially if you are still using incorrect techniques or feel overwhelmed by what feels like an overwhelming situation!
You should always take enough time before hitting a shot so that tension cannot build up in this way. Once you've taken all of these steps, everything else will follow! Now get out there and give these golfing tips for beginner golfers a go!
Don’t forget to play with experienced players
Everyone needs help along the way, so if you're lucky enough to know some experienced golfers, then ask for their advice. Whether they are playing pros or just friendly playing partners, having someone more experienced around who can answer any questions you might have is extremely valuable - it's just another of the many benefits of joining an amateur league!
There are so many benefits associated with playing in a golf league- not least that it keeps your game sharp and gives you practice under pressure before tournament play.
Position the ball right
This golf swing tip is applicable to many shots. The ball flies best when you hit it in the sweet spot of the golf club. With two additional golf balls, you can easily check whether this is the case.
Here’s how to position them: place one ball on the left, one on the right - each one finger's width away from the clubhead. If you hit the ball in the middle without touching the other two balls, you have hit the ball in the middle.
When making a swing, start with half turns. A full turn at high speed is much more challenging than a half, slow turn. So do half, slow turns at the beginning.
What is a success for beginners? When 50 percent of your balls fly halfway straight. “Halfway straight” is anything that ends up in a corridor of 20 meters to the left and right of the target.
So if you hit ten balls with a sand wedge and a half, slow swing halfway straight, you can increase the level of difficulty.
